CASology and Freshly Made Thanks

I’ve had less access to my computer at night lately, since Hubby’s year-end process requires him to work from home at night more.  So I have been trying to quickly get my cards made and my blog posts up in between lessons and shopping and laundry and everything else during the day.  Otherwise it would be very, very silent here on the blog!

Here is a card I squeaked out today for the CASology #19 and Freshly Made Sketches #61 challenges:

I thought this simple sketch would be good for the CASology challenge, as well.

I picked up some colored pencils at Joann yesterday, and I had some stamped Clearly Besotted images sitting around in my stash, so I figured why not!  Obviously I need more practice, but I think it turned out fairly decent for my first go.

I love this image – it’s so pretty.

Thanks for stopping by today. 😉

Sugar + Kraft

Oh my word, what a weekend.   After attending the family Halloween party Saturday night, preparations for and the presentation of a children’s musical program at church on Sunday (I play the piano for the children), hosting my husband’s parents Saturday and Sunday, and finishing up PrincessA’s birthday celebration yesterday, I am tuckered.  And we still have some Halloween activities tonight!  I haven’t really had time to create, and in the spare time I actually have had, I’ve been glued to the TV watching with a broken heart all the devastation caused by hurricane Sandy.  It is just incredible what has occurred, and my mind is much occupied in prayer for all those affected.

We took the day off from lessons today, so that I could attend a morning doctor’s appointment and the children could go Trick-or-Treating at Hubby’s office.  We have a neighborhood pizza party for dinner, and then more Trick-or-Treating before and after that.  I thought about dressing up in a costume today, but I think the zombie-like look on my face may be all that I need!

Anyway.  Here is a card for the CASology #17 cue card challenge (which is ‘sugar’) and also the CAS-ual Fridays #76 challenge to use Kraft:

I took a few pages of stamped images with me to the Halloween party so I could color with my Copic markers during the sporting activities, but I only walked away with 3 finished images.  This little cupcake by the Sweet Stamp Shop was one of them.  I added a little bit of Stickles and glitter to the scoop bottoms.  There are two Scor Tape glitter strips behind the tag, and I tied off the top of the tag with some PTI white ribbon and rustic cream twine.  Having its initial use here is a sentiment from my Sweet As Can Be stamp set.  I really love how the word ‘sweet’ is separate for using a different color.

Thank goodness for simple projects that fit into small spaces of time!

CASology – Leaf

I have tried today to use my time for mostly creative pursuits, since we have 3 days left of the sleepover, after which we will pick up in earnest with lessons again next Wednesday.  Lessons will be much more involved as we begin a new curriculum for each of the two grade levels, and with twins for one of those levels, I anticipate being BUSY.  So I’ve tried to fill a bit of my time this week with some creative fun for me.

Today’s card is for the CASology #14 challenge, on a theme of LEAF.

I went straight for my Harvest Berries stamps and dies and also my Ocean Tides ink.  I haven’t used anything Ocean Tides in a while, which is sad because I just love that color, especially with cream and brown.  So that’s what you have here!

I also used my new Oatmeal cardstock from Wplus9, and I really like it.  Filled in with some gems here and there, and a little wrap of twine at the bottom.

Thanks for stopping by today. 😉

A Freshly Made CASology Card

The theme for CASology challenge #13 is ‘zoo.’  I combined that with Freshly Made Sketch #55.

I did flip this sketch to the left 90 degrees, for my purposes.  I used my Sweet Baby stamp set, since it is the only set I have with any kind of zoo animals.

So, just a fun, simple little baby card here.

CASology 12 – Shoe

Here with a card for the CASology #12, on the theme of ‘SHOE.’

I didn’t plan to participate in this one, because my stamp collection doesn’t include anything related to shoes, at all.  But I happened upon a cute little stamp set while wandering around Joann today, so I came home and made this card after the young’uns were tucked in:

I tried to use either the ColourQ colors or the new Play Date Cafe colors, both of which included some pumpkin-type of orange.  I am not much of a fashionista, though – you will usually find me wearing jeans and T-shirt on most days, trying to stay comfy – nor am I a color expert.   Couldn’t find the confidence in my ability to pull it into my card effectively, so I left out the orange.

I used some new Scarlet Jewel patterned paper, along with some Simply Chartreuse striped paper.  Then I added a little bling.  I hope it works!

CASology – White

My favorite color is white.  I know – not necessarily much of a color, right??  (Depending on who you ask…)  But I love it.  LOVE it!  My children always laugh when I tell them my favorite color is white, because it doesn’t seem like a color to them.  It is my favorite, though.  That’s that.

So then, the CASology #11 challenge this week was definitely calling my name.  I just wish my mojo were around to enjoy it!!  I have been sputtering the last few days.  Thank goodness I was able to create 3 cards on Sunday, because the ol’ blog here would be pretty silent this week without those!

After putzing around for a few days – and after I spent a little while in my local Joann store yesterday and found a gorgeous little Jolee’s flower – I finally did a little crafting after the children went to bed last night.  The photos are terrible, but I can’t be bothered right now.  I’m just glad I came up with something!

Initially, I thought the ‘white’ theme was screaming WEDDING at me.  You know – cuz of the white and all that.  But my Wplus9 stamp set was sitting nearby while I began work on the card, and this lovely sentiment caught my eye.  So I grabbed some SU! pink and went with it.

I went with it, because I knew I would squeal out loud if someone sent me this card in the mail, in all it’s gorgeous white-ness.  LOL.  So I created it just to see it created, I guess.

Anyway.

Thanks for stopping by today. 😉

CASology – Sky

The challenge this week at CASology (week #10) is the word SKY.  I went the rainbow route with this card:

I broke out a few of my new Stampin’ Up! cardstock for this one, using some of the more earthy colors instead of really light, bright colors.  Other new supplies on this are a sun stamp from Verve, some cloud and rainbow dies from MFT Stamps, and cloud dies from Memory Box.  I fussy cut the little Verve sun.

I added a little diamond Stickles to the perimeter of the clouds for a little sparkle, and my favorite Musical Flourish embossing folder for the background.  I’m not sure the rounded corners really work – I guess I just felt like using my Corner Chomper, I have no other excuse!

Thanks for stopping by today. 😉
