CAS(E) This Sketch with Paper Players Snowman

Monday morning!  And… off to the races we go, right? 😉

Just kidding.  Sort of.  Sometimes Monday mornings feel that way.  Am I the only one??

I’m here today with a card for the Paper Players #124 and CAS(E) This Sketch #7 challenges.  The Paper Players challenge is a snowman theme this week.  So I used my Sweet & Sassy Stamps Warm Hello snowman for the first time on this one.

CMAS-009-01

Not my favorite card, so… I might just leave it at that.  It was fun being a little crafty on my weekend, though.  I will say that.

Dynamic Duos #30

Happy Saturday! 😉  I hope you are all having a good weekend.  We are going to spend the day decorating for Christmas (Yay!!) and hopefully relaxing a bit after a busy week.  There is also the possibility that I might even get a card created today!

But first, I am here with my creation for Dynamic Duos challenge #30, which is to use Midnight Muse and Silver on your project.

I used PTI’s Enchanted Evening cardstock as a Midnight Muse substitute, because I wanted to use some coordinating patterned paper for my card (the gingham in the background).

Also in use here is the Branch & Flourish Tree image by Hero Arts which I picked up at Michael’s a few months ago.  I stamped it in Versamark and heat embossed with a silver powder and then adorned it with some rhinestones.

Though it’s not really noticeable in all the photos, there is a layer of glittered silver cardstock as the very bottom layer and also behind the sentiment panel.  Looks kinda cool in person.  Also barely noticeable is a bit of machine stitching around the perimeter of the gingham DP.

Make sure you stop in to see what the rest of the Dynamos have created and to check out the details for this challenge.  And I hope you will participate with us!

Dynamic Duos #29

I am here today with my post for the Dynamic Duos #29 challenge.

First, I want to tell you all how fantastic the entries were for last week’s Cherry Cobbler and Sahara Sand combo – WOW!  I was completely blown away by all the beautiful works of art that were submitted.  It was my week to choose the Diva Dynamo, too, so I was very, very careful in my viewing of each entry. 😉  I can’t wait to see what you all create this week!

The colors for this new challenge are Marina Mist and Basic Black, along with a ‘Snowman’ theme Dessert Option.

I accepted the dessert option, because I really wanted to use my new Snow Wonderful stamp set from Verve.  So this is what I created:

I did a little rudimentary shading on the snowman with my Copic markers.  I then fussy cut him and the hills and lined them both a bit with my glitter pen.  They are both raised with dimensional adhesive for some depth.

The snowflakes are from the Tag Its #8 stamp set and the sentiment is from the Stylish Sentiments: Holiday set, both by Papertrey Ink.  Finally, I dotted some tiny rhinestones all around for more sparkle.

Make sure you stop in to see what the rest of the Dynamos have created and to see the details for the challenge.  I hope to see you playing along with us!

Dynamic Duos #28

Thanks for stopping by today for my Dynamic Duos post. 😉

Challenge #28 is a “Subtly Yours” combo, and the colors are Sahara Sand and Cherry Cobbler.

Here is my card:

I purchased the Memory Box Poinsettia stamp and die a few weeks ago, and I couldn’t wait to get that image inky with my Copic markers.  I hope it doesn’t just look like a big, bright red blob here!  I lined the edges and dotted the center with a bit of gold glitter.  I also impressed a Spellbinders circle die into the background behind the poinsettia to give it a little bit of a frame.

Okay, so after I finished the card, I wondered why the back layer of petals looked so different from the others.  And then it dawned on me – they are supposed to be the green leaves!!!  Ack. 😛

Well, I thought about doing it over, but remembered that this is a 2-color challenge.  So I just left it.  At this stage, I’m pretending that the leaves in the back are just an extension of the red bloom portion of the poinsettia.  Lame, eh?  Maybe you could just play along with me…?

I felt pretty stupid about this one.   By way of excuse, though, (LOL!) I’ve had some issues to worry about this week, and my brain has consistently wandered AWAY from crafting mode because of that.  Which isn’t a great thing, because I really should be investing time into my Christmas projects!  I am thinking it is going to be a long month in that regard.

Anyhoo.

Make sure you stop in to see what the rest of the Dynamic Duos Dynamos have created for this challenge – they are FANTASTIC! – and to check out the details for this challenge.  I hope to see you participate with us!

Papertrey October Blog Hop Challenge

I wanted to participate in the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop Challenge this month – so many lovely color schemes!  I chose to work with this gorgeous combo for my card:

The truth is, I very rarely receive my PTI new-release supplies in time to use them for the blog hop challenges.  But I was fortunate this month, and I immediately opened my package two days ago to use some new supplies for my card.  Particularly, I wanted to use the new Winter Hills and Snowflake Flurries stamp sets and also some of the Ocean Tides patterned paper.  I’ve been waiting patiently for this beautiful pattern pack!

I stamped the rectangular scene and did a little Copic coloring to create this card:

I used a glitter pen to add some touches of sparkle to the scene, adding a little more sparkle with some rhinestone flourishes.  I just ADORE Ocean Tides.  I think it is my all-time favorite color in my supplies.  Love it, love it!

Stop by Nichole Heady’s blog for the list of Blog Hop participants.

And thanks for stopping by here today.  😉

Mojo Monday and Paper Players

I am playing along with the Mojo Monday #261 sketch and The Paper Players #115 Tic-Tac-Toe challenge.  For the latter, I chose to work with the top row of elements on the board:  Christmas, Sparkle/Bling, and Ribbon.

So here is my somewhat-rustic Christmas card:

I used a few new stamps here.  The wreath is from O Christmas Tree by Verve, and the sentiment is from Holiday Wishes by PTI.  I used some Copics to color in the wreath image a bit, and then decked it out in some rhinestones bling.  I also added some machine stitching to the banner and the background panel.  The music DP is from a new Pink Paislee paper pack I picked up recently, and the ribbon is PTI’s Ripe Avocado.

After I finished the card, I wondered if the background was too busy, or if I should have cut the center from the wreath.  But I won’t stew about it for very long.  I wish I could find time to create in the morning, when my brain is fresh… er….

I am trying to get into the Christmas spirit, and to find some card ideas for easily-mass-produced cards, since I send out a LOT of cards during the Holidays – for our family Christmas card and also as little gifts.  I am hoping to finalize some things next week when we are on break from lessons.  This one, though, will not make the cut for the ‘easily-mass-produced’ requirement.  It took me more than an hour, and I don’t see myself making 60+ of these.

Anyway.  As I’ve seen on so many blogs, everyone else seems to be miles ahead of me, so wish me luck as I gear up for the Holiday card making fest!

Thanks for stopping by today. 😉
