A Sunflower, Just Because

Another card with a hand-colored image that has been patiently waiting in my files for oh so long:

MISC-005-01It is always so fulfilling to finally use the images I’ve colored on a card – you know, like, now my life is complete.  Or something.

Sweet Strawberry

Another card with coloring – this one using an image that I colored loooooooong ago, back when I first began experimenting with Copic markers.  The poor thing has been sitting in my files since about late 2012, oh my!  I think this is what you might call ‘closure.’  Haha!

TY-019-01A little strip of Pure Poppy gingham DP on the side, some embossed polka-dots in the background (barely visible!), and some sweet, sweet hand-colored strawberries – done!

Summer Treats in Red and Turquoise

This card is in response to The Paper Players #250 challenge, for clean and simple summer treats, and also for the Sweet Sunday Sketch #274 challenge.

I’ll confess, ice cream is just not my favorite treat.  But I’ve had this little colored ice cream cone in my stash for a few months, back when I was practicing with my Copic markers.  So I broke it out for this little number:

BDAY-040-01The turquoise digital paper strip was a scrap sitting on the counter from my project a few days ago, so I employed it here.

A Post – Out of Nowhere

Hello, everyone.

Just felt like posting a creation.  Just because.

Actually, we just finished organizing and carrying out a big Cub Scout event a few days ago.  Then I realized that I was stressed, overwhelmed, frustrated, and generally not doing anything that I, personally, enjoyed.  So I sat down to create.

I used Color Throwdown #347 and Freshly Made Sketches #191 for inspiration.

ToY-013-01The colors I used are just a little bit more subdued than those in the challenge photo, and the Basic Gray looks a bit black.  Nevertheless, a little bit of creative time was just what I needed.  Feeling much better now.

Fusion Card Challenge #12

Welcome to today’s Fusion Card Challenge!  I thought you all did a great job with those ties from last week’s inspiration photo – so many creative ways to interpret it!

Here is our challenge for you today:

Another interesting one, for me!

I consider myself to be soooo very UN-trendy and NOT too hip!  I think I’m pretty old fashioned, actually.  So this modern, hip, trendy photo freaked me out a bit.   As I studied it, though, I decided to go with a vase (or a jar, in my case) of flowers sitting on a table/shelf of some sort (or a piece of woodgrain-embossed kraft cardstock, in my case) and the color palette, all of which resulted in this card:

TY-008-01

I don’t think I realized what a GORGEOUS color Island Indigo is – for heck’s sake!!  And thank goodness I had purchased the In Colors pattern pack a few months ago, because I knew when I saw this striped DP that it would be THE perfect background for me.  And the two of us have been living happily ever after since. 😉  (hee hee)

I was also happy to ink up another of my Flourishes stamps for the image.  The sentiment is from Verve’s Words Cannot Express stamp set.  LOVE that font!

Fusion Card Challenge #8

Welcome to a new Fusion Card Challenge!

Obviously, from the lack of creative posting here, life has been keeping me busy.  This is the time of year when I do most of my research into what we will need for the next year of homeschooling lessons.  It does take quite a large chunk out of my schedule, and since we are still forging ahead with lessons (even though the school year is ending for most others), that chunk of time comes from my spare time – which doesn’t leave much crafting time for me.  I’ve also had a bunch of graduation cards to make for friends and family.

So I’m grateful when it’s time to create something for the Fusion Challenge – then I can just say to everyone, “I’m sorry, you’ll have to excuse me – I absolutely HAVE to create something,”  because I’m ‘obligated’ to do it, right???  At least I’m getting a TEENY TINY BIT of crafting in here and there, thank goodness!

Here is our challenge for you today:

Isn’t that photo a beauty??!  Wow.

Here is what I created:

WELL-002-01

I envisioned a pretty, soft bouquet of flowers in a lovely aqua vase.  And when my new stamps from Flourishes arrived last week, I immediately opened up the Calla Lilies set and went to work coloring with my Copic markers.

I stamped the image using Classic Kraft ink to give the bouquet a softer look, to reflect the water-colored effect in the photo.  I cut a vase using a Mega Gracious Vases die, and then I colored it a bit with my markers and spritzed it with some shimmer mist.  That adorable little sentiment is from Verve’s Treasured Words stamp set.  Wasn’t feeling up to adding rhinestones or other embellishments, thinking that this bouquet should speak for itself, if possible.

Dynamic Duos #35

Thanks for joining me this morning for my post for Dynamic Duos challenge #35, which is for the colors So Saffron and Certainly Celery.

35

I purchased a few stamp sets during the Flourishes Thanksgiving sale, and I’ve been eager to color a few of their gorgeous images.  Here is the first one to have made it onto a card:

ToY-001-01

I guess you could call me a bit of a minimalist these days, in how I’m using only touches of color with my neutrals!

I used a few Copic markers that seemed close to the given colors, from amongst my limited supply of them, to color this From The Desk Of image.  I gave the focal panel a run through with the Linen/Canvas impression plate and inked the edges with Tea Dye Distress Ink.  The sentiment is from my favorite Wplus9 set, Very Vintage Greetings.

ToY-001-4in1

That’s all from me today.  Make sure you stop in to see what the rest of the Design Team have created for this challenge and to check out the details for the challenge.  I hope you will participate with us!
