Blocks With Flowers

Two last little miscellaneous cards, before I potentially drop off the face of the crafty earth again.  No challenges for these, just freestyle creativity.

I took a couple of my pre-colored images and tried the blocking that I’ve seen and loved on other cards around blogland.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:¬† Cherry Blossom; Potted Garden (Craft’s Meow); Thinking of You (Clearly Besotted); Healing Touch Sentiments (PTI)
Paper/Cardstock:  Classic Kraft, Rustic White, Vintage Cream (PTI); Green Digital Paper (PrettifulDesigns on Etsy); Black & White Stripes Digital Paper (KHDigi on Etsy)
Inks:  Tuxedo Black (Memento); Dark Chocolate (PTI); Copic Markers
Embellishments:  Rhinestones (Recollections); Glitter Pen (Wink of Stella)

Feeling a little bit bold and bright, I grabbed a few bold and bright Copic markers to color a few Hero Arts butterfly images, and then I created a few simple cards with them.

The above two cards feature sentiments from the Fanciful Flowers stamp set by Annabelle Stamps.

This sentiment is from My Favorite Things’ On The Line stamp set.¬† I added a bit of Wink of Stella glitter marker to the little circle spots on all the wings.

I think I will add the first card to this week’s Seize the Birthday gallery, as well, and¬†also to the Muse Challenge #36.

Monday Muse 31

Well, I had some supplies out on the table after creating a card for Marybeth’s birthday blog hop, so I went ahead and made one more card before begrudgingly putting everything away.¬† This was inspired by the Monday Muse #31 challenge by Marion Vagg.

I love the beautiful, colorful, and bold simplicity of Marion’s creations, so I gravitate towards pretty much wanting to CASE them down to the last detail!¬† For today’s card, though, I was taken with the lovely colors, the simple layout, and the row of flowers.

Though I haven’t been creating much this past month, I certainly haven’t stopped myself from purchasing new supplies!¬† From amongst my shipment of new stamp sets, I wanted to try this Stamp A Garden set from Hero Arts.¬† I stamped the row and colored them with Copic markers.¬† Then I made the mistake of adding some touches of glitter pen to the flowers.¬† All that did was make them look dingy and poorly colored, I think.

I had a good time creating the card, though.

I’m happy I had the opportunity to create a couple of cards this week.¬† Definitely a bright spot!¬† We ended up in the hospital ER Thursday night where Hubby was apparently passing a kidney stone or two, or however many.¬† Our¬†boy¬†was very frightened by the whole ordeal, and I tend to freak out about things like that as well, so it was a challenge to stay calm to comfort him while getting DH to the hospital.

Hospital trips are never fun!¬† But I am grateful that it wasn’t something more life threatening.¬† We have some big plans for the next week, and I think we’re all relieved that they won’t have to be cancelled.¬† All that aside, though, I just really love my guy and I’m glad he’s okay!¬† I would be a complete MESS without him in my life!!!¬† I could use a little extra sleep, though, to recover from the insane adrenaline rush…

We’ll be busy again in the next few weeks, so I suppose this is a bit of a hit-and-run post.¬† But thank you¬†for stopping by today.¬† I miss you all and my blogging fun!¬† ūüėČ

Fusion Card Challenge #8

Welcome to a new Fusion Card Challenge!

Obviously, from the lack of creative posting here, life has been keeping me busy.¬† This is the time of year when I do most of my research into what we will need for the next year of homeschooling lessons.¬† It does take quite a large chunk out of my schedule, and since we are still forging ahead with lessons (even though the school year is ending for most others), that chunk of time comes from my spare time – which doesn’t leave much crafting time for me.¬†¬†I’ve also had a bunch of graduation cards to make for friends and family.

So I’m grateful when it’s time to create something for the Fusion Challenge – then I can just say to everyone, “I’m sorry, you’ll have to excuse me – I absolutely HAVE to create something,”¬† because I’m ‘obligated’ to do it, right???¬† At least I’m getting a TEENY TINY BIT of crafting in here and there, thank goodness!

Here is our challenge for you today:

Isn’t that photo a beauty??!¬† Wow.

Here is what I created:

I envisioned a pretty, soft bouquet of flowers in a lovely aqua vase.  And when my new stamps from Flourishes arrived last week, I immediately opened up the Calla Lilies set and went to work coloring with my Copic markers.

I stamped the image using Classic Kraft ink to give the bouquet a softer look, to reflect the water-colored effect in the photo.¬† I cut a vase using¬†a Mega Gracious Vases die, and then I colored it a bit with my markers and¬†spritzed it with some shimmer mist.¬† That adorable little sentiment is from Verve’s¬†Treasured Words stamp set.¬† Wasn’t feeling up to adding rhinestones or other embellishments, thinking that this bouquet should speak for itself, if possible.

Please stop by to see what the rest of the Fusion Design Team have created and to see the details for this challenge.¬† I hope you’ll participate with us!

Dynamic Duos #44

Stopping by with my creation for today’s Dynamic Duos challenge, which is for the colors So Saffron and Basic Black.¬† There is also a Dessert Option for ribbon.

It was difficult for me to see anything but ‘bumblebee’ with these colors! ūüėȬ† But I fought that instinct and used my Botanical Silhouettes stamp set for a little get well card, instead.¬† And I might send it to myself, because I’m going to need it next week!

I fussy cut each of the blooms and attached them with foam adhesive, also adding a few little black marker dots to them (don’t look too closely – my eyes have had a hard time lately!).¬†¬†Then a few rhinestones here and there.

That’s it for me today.¬† I am in for a crazy week ahead, but I am hoping to see you back here next Saturday, at least, for the next Dynamic Duos challenge.

Make sure you stop in to see what the rest of the Design Team have created and to check out the details for this challenge.  I hope you will participate with us!

Play Date Cafe Circles and Butterflies

The answer is, yes.  I am still avoiding my Christmas projects.

But here is a card for the Play Date Cafe #157 challenge!

I thought I would do something flowery and beautiful in response to the absolutely gorgeous inspiration photo story.¬† But I’ve been doing flowers so much lately, I went with circles and butterflies instead.

From left to right, the colors are Elegant Eggplant, Scarlet Jewel, Rich Razzleberry.  I meant to tie a little bit of twine across the card below the sentiment.  But I glued down the Kraft panel before my brain even had a chance to respond.  Although, I did remember to run the panel through my Big Shot with the Linen Impression Plate first.  Because I can be totally random, like that.

I kept getting the circle proportions wrong, so I have three leftover sets of circles like these, in three different sizes.¬† I’m sure my oversized pile of misfit scraps will welcome them with open arms!

Is it weird that from that fabulously beautiful inspiration photo, my inspiration was the little color reference dots at the bottom?  Hmmm.

Thanks for stopping by today. ūüėČ

Retro Sketch and Play Date Cafe

I wanted to play along with that cute little Sketch #33 at Retro Sketches this week, because it made me think of my Tiny Tags stamp set, which hasn’t really been used very much since I purchased it.

I also used the Play Date Cafe #153 colors, although my colors ended up being a ‘variation’ of the originals and slightly less muted.¬† Grab your shades, in other words! ūüėČ

And you know me РI can always find something to nitpick about my cards!  I think I would have liked this one more with the tags a bit closer together and with shorter string lengths.

For a second, I thought about taking it apart and trying again but then smacked myself and went on with my day – LOL!

Thanks for stopping by today. ūüėČ
