Father’s Day

I thought I would post the card I created for all the fathers in my life – my father, my stepfather, my foster-father, my grandfather, and Hubby’s father.  Whew!  I made 5 of the following card to send out:

FTHR-001-01The stars are from glittered cardstock, so they have a little bit of a sparkle to them.

Papertrey Ink 8th Anniversary – Day 8 Card

I actually have a two-for-one post today.  After the Banquet, I took the day off from just about everything yesterday, and I used a bit of that time to sit and create a few cards.

Yesterday’s challenge was to create something with the color blue using the ombre effect.  This first card is actually a variation on a card I created a few weeks ago:

BDAY-025-01

This Phrase Play #5 die is so perfect for shaker cards – it takes away most of the guesswork, which is essential for me! (LOL)

I know the contest allows for only one entry per person.  But I was having so much fun that I created another one with the same theme.

Guest Star Stamper for Color Throwdown #280

I am delighted to be a Guest Star Stamper this week, for Color Throwdown Challenge #280.  Here is the inspiration/colors photo:

280

And here is my creation:

SYMP-003-01

The concept for this card came when a young neighbor friend of ours was hit by a car last Thursday night.  Fortunately he suffered only a broken leg and a few broken ribs, with no head or internal injuries.  All of us – in our close-knit neighborhood – are very grateful that it wasn’t much, much worse!

I’m afraid I’ve been in a rather somber mood since the event, and it had me thinking about a masculine ‘get well’ card that we could send to him.  After I began to create, though, this card morphed into more of a masculine sympathy card instead.  So I suppose I’ll have to start over on the get well card.

Dynamic Duos #49

It’s Black Tie week at Dynamic Duos, featuring Basic Gray and Basic Black, with a Dessert Option for a Masculine Theme.

49

I went with the masculine theme option, but I also plan to use this card design for the young women in our extended families who are graduating this year, with maybe a few minor adjustments to color and detail.

GRAD-001-01

This card features my neglected MFT Notebook Edge Border Die on the left, as well as sentiments from 3 pertinent PTI stamp sets – Congrats All Ways, For The Graduate, and It’s Official.  A little section of striped DP on the side and this card is ready to go.

I thought about adding a few rhinestones for bling factor, but since this is for our graduating nephew, I think I’ll just save the bling for someone who might appreciate it a little more!  😉  (Hubby is always advising me not to bother putting bling on the guy cards anyway…)

Fusion Card Challenge #2 – Addendum

Just checking in to let you know that the Fusion #2 challenge is still open for 2 more days.

02

I also thought you might want to see the two cards that didn’t make the cut for this challenge.

This is the more masculine card I created first, using a fairly literal interpretation of the photo – alternating circles and chevrons in the colors shown.  Not my favorite, but it’s okay, I suppose.

BDAY-007-01

And this card was second.  Basically just using the alternating colors scheme with the Quatrefoil die.

BDAY-008-01

Again – this is okay, I’m just not in love with it either.

Okay, there you have it!  Hope you enjoyed this little peek of my failed attempts. 😉  Thanks for stopping in today!

There are about 2 more days to enter the Fusion #2 challenge, then voting will start on Wednesday, and winners will be announced on Thursday.

Hope you can join us! 😉

Fusion Card Challenge #2

Welcome back to the Fusion Card Challenge!  Did you have fun with last week’s first challenge??  I had such a fun time checking out all the entries, which I thought were absolutely fantastic!  Y’all are so creative! 😉

We have another great Fusion challenge for you today:

02

Remember:  You can use either the sketch, or the inspiration photo, or you can make Fusion instead with both sides of the challenge.

I admit to having a tough time with this one.  I made 3 cards based on this photo, because I just couldn’t quite get it right!  At first, I pretty much just copied the pillow patterns for a masculine birthday card.  And then I tried to use my Quatrefoil die with the colors to create something a little more feminine, which merely resembled the photo a little.  I finally figured that I was taking it too literally, so I walked away from the patterns and just went with the colors and the modern, graphic feel of it.

Here is the creation with which I was most satisfied:

BDAY-013-01

I mimicked the chevron points by using stars instead, and I pulled in the alternating pattern of the colors by using similarly colored cardstocks behind the Piestra Tile die cut opening in the white panel.  The sentiment is from my new Stylish Sentiments: Birthday stamp set.  I used a variety of star dies, as listed below.

BDAY-013-4in1

I basically let my sweet husband have total control over the end result of this one.  Initially, I had a bunch of tiny stars surrounding the big star, but not glued down yet.  I showed it to him and he said he would “prefer it without all those.”  I asked him about rhinestones for a little sparkle, and he said that “wouldn’t be necessary.”  LOL!  So this card is exactly how he would prefer it, as a man.  Can’t get much more straightforward than that! 😉

Please stop by to see what the rest of the Fusion Design Team and Guest Designers have created and to see the details for this challenge.  I hope you’ll participate with us again!

CAS(E)’d ColourQ

Hope you’ve all had a Happy Easter! 😉

Here with a quick entry for CAS(E) This Sketch #21 and ColourQ #182.

BDAY-009-01

I felt like trying something different.  Not sure it worked out, really.  But I loved the idea of the floss for the polka-dot area of this sketch.  Although, now I’m not sure if this would be more of a masculine card or a feminine card.  I’m sure I can find someone who might appreciate it, though.

BDAY-009-4in1

Sorry for the post and dash, but I am tuckered out today and ready for bed.  I hope you’ve all had a lovely day. 😉

Thanks for stopping by today!
