My Favorite Things 10th Birthday Celebration

I am posting to join in the My Favorite Things 10th Birthday party.  I love my MFT products, especially my Die-namics – so creative and unique!

Today was my last day for free creativity before we get back into our daily routines after a busy month of June.  The party challenge is to use the number 10 in some way.

I used a few MFT stamp sets for this card, stamping 2 of them 10 times each – 1) the little aqua star, and 2) the “enjoy your special day” sentiment in the background.

Thanks for stopping in today.  I hope you all have a great weekend!

Stamps:  Birthday Greetings, On The Line, Party Balloons, Pretty Poppies (MFT); Balloon Celebration (SU)
Ink:  Grout Gray (MFT); Regal Rose (SU); Aqua Mist (PTI); Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Paper/Cardstock:  Aqua Mist DP, Smokey Shadow Cardstock, Rustic White Cardstock (PTI); White (Xpedx)
Embellishments:  Rhinestones (Kaisercraft, Recollections)
Tools:  Party Balloons, Pierced Fishtail Flag STAX (MFT)

Negative – Thanks

If you’ve been to my Pinterest page lately, you may have already seen this card.  Thought I’d post it here, too, just to keep my creative fun going a bit longer.

TY-012-01The ‘thanks’ panel was created when I was trying out some new watercolor paints.  I die cut the word from the panel, but loved the look of the negative that was left.  So I dolled it up here with some glitter tape, a butterfly sticker, and my PTI quatrefoil impression plate.

TY-012-4in1Thanks for stopping by today. 😉

Bright and Bold

I love bright and bold color combos, which may surprise you a little.  I don’t often use them, because I’m never sure of my ability to get them on a card in appropriate balance.  But I do love them.

Here is a little something I put together with a couple of bright and bold colors:

TY-015-01The red panel is the result of my attempt at sponging a background.  The word die cut is the result of my attempt at blending Copic markers to achieve the ombre effect, which I think is harder than it sounds with Copic markers!

TY-015-4in1This is one of my favorite cards.

Thanks for stopping by today. 😉

Tools:  Many Thanks Die (MFT);  Polka-dot Impression Plate (PTI)

Speaking of Coloring Images, Though…

There is something so fun and relaxing about sitting down with my Copic markers and some images to color.  I love to just sit and color!

One thing I have avoided, though, is coloring images of people.  I tend to think, “If I can’t make it look realistic at all, why bother!”  So, I obviously haven’t bothered at all.  Haha!

I did finally take out my MFT Pure Innocence image to practice coloring people features, then I included it on this card:

BDAY-038-01What do you think?  Not too bad, for one of my first attempts?

Well, anyway, it was fun to color.  And I look forward to trying more in the future.

Ombre Polka-Dot Thank You

Well, my little summer break is over, and we are back on schedule for lessons this week.  But I’m hoping this won’t be the end of my posting here.  Hopefully, I’ll still be able to carve out bits of time to create here and there.  But it has been a fun week for me!  And I appreciate you all being here and all your sweet, kind comments.  You have given me a wonderful boost this past week! 😉

Here is a little something for Retro Sketches #170.

TY-017-01I used some really cute digital paper I found on Etsy a few weeks ago, and I broke out this MFT sentiment that I hadn’t used yet, despite having purchased it long ago.

Thanks, again, for stopping by today and the past week. 😉

Copic Marker Class Day 8

It is officially time to put our practice images from class onto a card.

My card contains an image that I colored using one of the difficult color combinations from Day 7.   I was initially hesitant to use the bold red markers.  It just felt like there was way too much color there for me to use without making a huge mess of it!  But after practicing a bit, I can see myself using these types of bold color again.

Here is the card I created with my practice image:

BDAY-038-01The embossing is from the Cuttlebug Modern Wallpaper folder, the banner die is by My Favorite Things, and I used a couple of my new PTI Shakers & Sprinkles dies for the circle frame.  The sentiment is from PTI’s Gracious Vases stamp set.

Pretty simple.

Thanks for visiting today.  Hope you all have a great week ahead! 😉
