Papertrey Ink Stamp-A-Faire Challenges #5, #7, and #8

So I am totally copying Kara and going for combining some challenges.  (Please forgive me, Kara!)

I looked at challenge #7 – to use 2 or 3 stamp sets and layer them in an unexpected way – and wondered how on earth I could fulfill that challenge.  I’m not sure I did, actually.  But I gave it a try.  I started playing around with stamps and came up with…. something, anyway.

Here’s my card:

Challenge #8 is to cut the card front about an inch short, to leave an extra section on the card back for decorating.  I used that back space to create a faux border, for Challenge #5.  At least, I thought this would count as a faux border.  Although, I just realized it’s not on the card front and it’s not a single-layer card….  It’s been a crazy day here, maybe I’m not thinking clearly any longer!

Here’s how it looks flat:

And a close-up of my stamped, modge-podge medallion creation.  I found it interesting, anyway.

I used Fancy Flourishes, Beautiful Blooms II, and Borders and Corners stamp sets to create it, along with some rhinestones.

Thanks for stopping by today. 😉

PTI Stamp-A-Faire Challenge #4

So, I went to make a card for Challenge #4, and it just was going n.o.w.h.e.r.e.

Then, I sliced my left ring finger open on one of the dies I have in my container.  So, after a little medical leave (really, I stayed home and played doctor to myself, cuz it really wasn’t that bad), I finally started my card again, with fresh eyes (and an injured finger).

Here is the result:

Here is a close-up to show that I used the cane print impression plate on the ripe avocado layer.

I also used the rock-and-roll technique on the flowers, to incorporate both the aqua blue and the dark blue.  I don’t have any PTI inks, so I just substitute with whatever I have that looks close – in most cases, Colorbox.  Though you can’t see it, I also sprayed the focal panel with a little shimmer mist, so it sparkles ever so slightly.  Guess I could have used a few leaves on the stems somewhere, eh? 😛

Not sure this was a good combo for me, or if my brain was traumatized by the injury.  But this felt like awkward creation, for me.

Thanks for stopping by today, just the same! 😉

PTI Stamp-A-Faire Challenge #3

Another card for the Papertrey Ink Stamp-A-Faire.

The challenge – to create a window and tie ribbon partially around the card front through that opening.

And my card:

I used Fillable Frames #10 for the window opening.  And rather than using ribbon, I chose to use twine.  The photo doesn’t show it, but the Ocean Tides layer is impressed with the Linen impression plate.

PTI Stamp-A-Faire Challenge #2

Today is the Papertrey Ink Stamp-A-Faire event.

And since I am not able to be there in person, I am playing along with some challenges at home today.  The prize is one of the limited edition stamp sets made especially for this event.  I’ve already placed a qualifying order, so I am expecting it with that order and don’t need another one.  But I wanted to play along with some challenges today, just because I need to be crafty!  (Hopefully I won’t be chosen as a winner, or that they’ll pick another winner.)

Challenge #2 is to create a card with the Raspberry Fizz and Smokey Shadow color combination.

Here is my card:

Obviously, I added in a little green as well, and there are heat embossed large polka dots on the Smokey Shadow layer, which don’t show up too well in this photo.

I used my new Hanging Out stamp set by Melissa Bickford – LOVE IT!!  And I realize now that I probably should have used the onesie outline to stamp over that flowered onesie – mental note for next time!  Actually, I think there are a few things I would do differently on this card, but I don’t mind this one, for being created on the fly and a whim!

Thanks for stopping by today. 😉
