Freshly Made Sketches 200

Stopping in today to join the Freshly Made Sketches 200 celebration.

I love the FMS sketches.  I can always count on them to help get my creativity going.  And lately, I have definitely needed help getting my creativity going!  Summer has been a crazy ride, and I am really looking forward to the great calm down that autumn brings with it.

Anyhoo.  Here is my creation for the challenge:

WED-002-01The cane print layer at the bottom is a shimmery silver, which I cannot capture AT ALL with my meager photography skills, but which is so pretty in real life.  In fact, I wish I had a magic wand for photographing white, in general.

WED-002-4in1Thanks for stopping by today.  I’m sure it will be awhile before I am back.  😉

Guest Star Stamper for Color Throwdown #280

I am delighted to be a Guest Star Stamper this week, for Color Throwdown Challenge #280.  Here is the inspiration/colors photo:

And here is my creation:

The concept for this card came when a young neighbor friend of ours was hit by a car last Thursday night.  Fortunately he suffered only a broken leg and a few broken ribs, with no head or internal injuries.  All of us – in our close-knit neighborhood – are very grateful that it wasn’t much, much worse!

I’m afraid I’ve been in a rather somber mood since the event, and it had me thinking about a masculine ‘get well’ card that we could send to him.  After I began to create, though, this card morphed into more of a masculine sympathy card instead.  So I suppose I’ll have to start over on the get well card.

Thanks for stopping by today. 😉

Big Birthday Bloom

Here is a card with another image that I colored while on vacation.

I wasn’t sure these big, beautiful floral images would be served very well by my amateur coloring skills – too much room for error with all that image space!  But I took the chance and purchased a few big block stamp sets, giving them a bit of practice while I had some time to myself.  Not very visible are the touches of glitter I added to the petal tips.

Linking up to the Seize the Birthday challenge again.

ColourQ Sympathy Card

It feels so good to make a card!  Oh my goodness.

The ColourQ #208 challenge made it super easy on me, so here is a very simple creation with black and white and one additional color.

My favorite Wildflowers silhouette stamp, against a sponged background.  And sentiment from my (relatively) new Peaceful Wildflowers stamp set.  Beautiful sentiments in that set – I love them.

Happy Belated Birthday, Marybeth!

Joyce contacted me to ask if I would like to participate in a belated Birthday Blog Hop for our sweet blogging friend Marybeth, and obviously I said, “Of course!”  Marybeth is such a sweet, sweet lady, and I couldn’t pass up the chance to create my first card in over a month to help celebrate her life!

Marybeth, I hope your birthday was a great day, and I hope the next year will be filled with much happiness and joy and everything good in your life!  Thank you so much for all the lovely and kind comments you leave on my blog and for your sweet friendship.  You’re a wonderful person with a beautiful spirit, and I’m so happy that I’ve had the opportunity to get to know you through our blogs.  Hugs and blessings to you, my friend!

This image is from Annabelle Stamps, colored with Copic markers and spritzed with sparkle shimmer mist.  I did use the Freshly Made Sketches #100 challenge to assist me, and I’ll post this over at Seize the Birthday, too.

Here is a list of all the Birthday Blog Hop participants, so you can check out all the beautiful birthday love created for Marybeth.

More Happy Birthday

Well, I was so disappointed about missing the mark with the Color Throwdown #250 colors, I had to try again, this time using CASE This Sketch #36.  I am also submitting this into the Clearly Besotted Challenge #2 for ‘Seeing Spots’, and also Seize the Birthday’s Anything Goes Birthday Challenge.  Four challenges in one pop – Wow!  Write that down.

Stephanie originally sent me 4 stamp sets to use during my guest DT spot last week, but she ended up using one of the sets for the June release instead.  So even though it wasn’t part of the release for which I was participating, I wanted to use some of the stamps from that set – Make A Wish – to give them a little more exposure. 😉

Aren’t those polka-dot balloons too cute?!  I’ve tried over the past few months to find some balloon stamps that suit my style, and the balloons in this stamp set definitely suit my style.  This card has polka-dot balloons, a polka-dot-impressed background, spots around the scallop circle, and some sparkly bling spots.

And some STRIPES in the middle – Haha!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. 😉

Freshly Made Sketch 94

Hi there.  😉

There are only 40 days until our local schools are back in session.  Though I know that the heat will continue on through a few weeks in September, the thought of nearing the end of the ‘crazy’ season (a.k.a. Summer) is comforting to me.  We’ve had some changes going on at our house, and I anticipate more as we head into a new year of lessons in the fall.  I’ll have a 4th grader and two 1st graders in our little academy, and I’m looking forward to all that the new year holds.  But it will definitely be a balancing act!

I’m sad to say that, though I had hoped to still have time for it, blogging and keeping up with craft challenges is about to take a big hit.  There has not been an official announcement yet, but I have resigned from the Fusion DT in order to free up a bit of time and to consolidate and focus my crafting opportunities.  I think I might be looking at only one card being created per week.  And I think that might be on my LUCKY weeks!

I’ve done a whole lot of soul searching over the past year, and especially the last few weeks and months.  It is a challenge to balance everything that I am committed to doing in my life, especially with my health concerns.  But I feel confident that I have chosen the better part, and there is no more worthy cause to sink my efforts into, in my mind.  I know I’ll be able to set aside a little time for crafting, but I am just not able to keep up with particular crafting schedules such as DT responsibilities require.

I guess I’m saying, be ready for a whole lot of sporadic randomness here at Laughadaisy!  There’s so much going on in the crafty blogosphere that I’m sure I’ll hardly be missed.  But hopefully I’ll have a little more time to comment on blogs of choice now, and I’ll be happy to see you all here whenever that is.  😉

Enough babbling.

Here is a card for Freshly Made Sketches #94:

I thought I was using the current Color Throwdown colors, but discovered the Island Indigo was supposed to be Bermuda Bay, when I went back to check the graphic.  So, scratch that.  And I wish I had used some varying sizes of the sequins rather than all the same size.

Supplies are listed below.

Thanks for stopping by today. 😉
