A Butterfly

It is handy to have a stash of previously colored images – they whip up into a card fairly quickly!  Here is yet another of my pre-colored images that made it onto a card:

ToY-014-01It cannot really be seen, but the background behind the butterfly is embossed in a woodgrain pattern.  And the also-barely-visible thread there is gold and sparkly.

Blocks With Flowers

Two last little miscellaneous cards, before I potentially drop off the face of the crafty earth again.  No challenges for these, just freestyle creativity.

I took a couple of my pre-colored images and tried the blocking that I’ve seen and loved on other cards around blogland.

Papertrey Ink June 2015 Blog Hop Challenge

The inspiration photo for this month’s Papertrey Ink Blog Hop is just so interesting, I had to give it a try.  I knew right away which products I wanted to use, and this is the creation that followed:

ToY-015-01Had such a great time with this one.  My little PrincessM is turning into quite a little card maker these days, and it is always fun for me to consult with her about our respective projects.  She talked me into switching out vertical stripes for the horizontal stripes that you now see here.  I also love to hear her “ooh” and “ahh” after seeing each final card, even when it’s an obvious flop. 😉

ToY-015-4in1Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a fun Hop!  😉

A Post – Out of Nowhere

Hello, everyone.

Just felt like posting a creation.  Just because.

Actually, we just finished organizing and carrying out a big Cub Scout event a few days ago.  Then I realized that I was stressed, overwhelmed, frustrated, and generally not doing anything that I, personally, enjoyed.  So I sat down to create.

I used Color Throwdown #347 and Freshly Made Sketches #191 for inspiration.

ToY-013-01The colors I used are just a little bit more subdued than those in the challenge photo, and the Basic Gray looks a bit black.  Nevertheless, a little bit of creative time was just what I needed.  Feeling much better now.

ToY-013-4in1Thanks for stopping by today. 😉

Papertrey Ink 8th Anniversary – Day 5 Card

Today’s challenge for the Papertrey Ink 8th Anniversary celebration is to ink up a stamp set that hasn’t been used yet.  Sadly, this is too easy for me to do.  Probably 80% or more of my stamps have never seen ink.  I always see things that others use – making things I would love to make – only to purchase it and find out that it’s not really my style or that I really don’t know how to use it.  Or, I have my favorite fall-backs that I use over and over and over again.  Or, I just don’t have the time to use all the many, lovely supplies I have in my stash.  (sigh)

At any rate, I chose to work with a few un-inked stamps from a variety of sets – Doodlie Do, It’s Official, Balloon Bash, and Friendly Flower.

ToY-004-01Now, I know what you’re thinking right now.  “What??!  A card from Ally that isn’t all white??!”

I like black and gray, too.  A little nod to my high-school punk-rocker roots.  Haha!

I had a good time with this one.

Thanks for stopping by today.  😉

Fusion Card Challenge #7

Welcome to today’s Fusion Card Challenge!

Here is what we have for you today:

That little Kraft package is just so adorable!  But I struggled with this one, too.  And when I came within 10 minutes of finishing my final card, I ended up stamping the sentiment crooked.  😦  Boo, hiss!  Then I had to turn the panel over and try it all again.  That is difficult to do when it is 10:30 p.m. and you’re tired and wanting to sleep.

Here is my creation, anyway:

I used a few neglected supplies for this card.  I’ve had my MFT Layered Rose die set for a while, still unused, until this project.  I thought they would create perfect coffee-filter flowers, based on those in the photo.  After assembling them, I also sprayed a little Frost shimmer spritz on them.

Also being used for the first time is my Memory Box Meadow Rue die, snipping off a few flower buds, though.  I used a new sentiment from my Winter Hills stamp set, and then added three little pearls.

I had a neighbor stop by on Saturday, asking for 2 last-minute Mother’s Day cards.  She saw this card and asked me to re-create it with a Mother’s Day sentiment for her.  She said she loved the design, which made me feel better, since I have really been doubting this creation ever since finishing it, for some reason.

Please stop by to see what the rest of the Fusion Design Team have created and to see the details for this challenge.  I hope you’ll participate with us!

Dynamic Duos #35

Thanks for joining me this morning for my post for Dynamic Duos challenge #35, which is for the colors So Saffron and Certainly Celery.

I purchased a few stamp sets during the Flourishes Thanksgiving sale, and I’ve been eager to color a few of their gorgeous images.  Here is the first one to have made it onto a card:

I guess you could call me a bit of a minimalist these days, in how I’m using only touches of color with my neutrals!

I used a few Copic markers that seemed close to the given colors, from amongst my limited supply of them, to color this From The Desk Of image.  I gave the focal panel a run through with the Linen/Canvas impression plate and inked the edges with Tea Dye Distress Ink.  The sentiment is from my favorite Wplus9 set, Very Vintage Greetings.

That’s all from me today.  Make sure you stop in to see what the rest of the Design Team have created for this challenge and to check out the details for the challenge.  I hope you will participate with us!
