Sweet Strawberry

Another card with coloring – this one using an image that I colored loooooooong ago, back when I first began experimenting with Copic markers.  The poor thing has been sitting in my files since about late 2012, oh my!  I think this is what you might call ‘closure.’  Haha!

TY-019-01A little strip of Pure Poppy gingham DP on the side, some embossed polka-dots in the background (barely visible!), and some sweet, sweet hand-colored strawberries – done!

Wplus9 Birthday – Week 4 – Stretch It

Here’s a simple little something for the Wplus9 Birthday Week 4 Challenge, to ‘Stretch It’ by trying something out of our comfort zones.  A very, very simple card here, as I’m short on time again this week.

I don’t step out of my comfort zone often, even outside of card making – I’m definitely a creature of habit!  But I wanted to participate in all the Wplus9 challenges this month.  So I thought of a few techniques and such that I’ve been wanting to try lately, deciding on the chalkboard technique.

I suppose it wasn’t much of a stretch, especially after completing my project and realizing how easy it was to accomplish this technique!  Knowing how I love to sit in a good rut, though, this was definitely a stretch for me.  I’ve wanted to try it for a long, long, loooooong time, and now I can finally check it off my long list of things to try.

Here is another card I created for the Wplus9 Birthday Trend Watch Challenge, still using stripes and sequins:

TY-009-01I tried out my new Coming Up Roses stamp and dies sets for this one.  They’re fun supplies to use.  Not sure it’s very trendy, still, but I will enjoy sending this little card on to someone.

Wplus9 Birthday – Trend Challenge

Here with something for the Wplus9 Birthday Trend Watch Challenge.

Okay, so I’ll just confess it right now, first thing – I am probably THE least trendy person around.  I’m clueless about trendy things, and by the time I embrace a trendy thing, it is likely to have not been trendy any more for the last 5-10 years.  So, I’m grateful that Dawn gave us a selection of trends, to help clue me in!

I went with diagonal stripes & sequins for this card:

Pulled out my Onesie Twosie stamps and die sets for this, in addition to the Heartfelt Mix stamps and dies.

Wplus9 Birthday Week 2 – Step It Up Challenge

Slowly working my way back into life now.  😉  I’m here today with a card for the Wplus9 Birthday Week 2 challenge, which is to ‘Step It Up’ by adding dimension.

Here is how I add dimension, I guess:

I colored a lovely image from Very Vintage Greetings with my Prismacolor pencils, trying to shade a little for some dimension there.  I also sponged the oval mat behind it, layering both of those with foam tape over the ornate oval for more depth.  I cut the banner twice, cutting off the ends on the top one, layering it over the other with foam tape.  I suppose the pearls give a little dimension, as well.

So there you have it.  Thanks for stopping by today. 😉

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Heartfelt Mix, Very Vintage Greetings (Wplus9)
Paper/Cardstock:  White Cardstock (Xpedx); Soft Stone Cardstock (PTI)

Tools:  Banner Trio Dies (Wplus9); Oval Dies (Spellbinders); Chevron Cover Plate (PTI)

Wplus9 Birthday – Comfort Challenge

I don’t really have much time for creativity right now, with our Scout Banquet coming up next week.  But Wplus9 produces some of my favorite stamps and dies, and I didn’t want to miss the birthday festivities going on this month.

So I have my first blogging card to post today, a little something for the first Wplus9 Birthday Celebration challenge, which is to create something within our own comfort zone.

You’ve been around here long enough to know that my comfort zone is basically clean and simple and white and, if at all possible, something I can create in my very short 5-minute intervals during the day!

So here it is:

Nothing ground breaking or gloriously original.  Just a card.

A Double

By keeping things simple, I was able to create two cards in my ‘spare’ moments on Friday.  This card today was created for the Color Throwdown #240 and Seize the Birthday #16 challenges.  I flipped the sketch upside down.

I wanted to use my neglected Big Wish stamp set by Verve, which has this lovely little cake image.  I used each of the specified colors on that one little image (though you might have to look closely to spot the apricot and limeade!) and then used a glitter pen to add a few strokes of sparkle to it – on the candle flames, the flourishes on the cake, and the flower petals.

The card base is Smokey Shadow, and I used Wisteria Wonder for a mat layer.  The top portion of the main white panel was embossed with PTI’s By The Number impression plate, and I tied a knot of Aqua Mist ribbon to hide the dividing line.  The sentiment is from Wplus9’s Embroidered Bouquet stamp set.
