Papertrey Ink Free Printable Challenge – Take Two

So, I am casting away the self-pity party from not feeling well by throwing all my responsibilities to the side and creating cards instead.

This card is another attempt at the Papertrey Ink Anniversary Free Printable Challenge.  This time using Heather Nichols’ image.

I actually have no idea when I would use this card.  Hubby might like it, since it’s a little boxy and such.  It was fun to create, anyway, and uber simple.

Thanks for stopping by today. 😉

Supplies Used:
Free Digital Printable Image (Papertrey Ink)
Paper/Cardstock:  White Cardstock (Xpedx); Smokey Shadow and Pure Poppy Cardstocks, Soft Stone Patterned Paper (PTI)
Embellishments:  Rhinestones (Recollections); Glitter (Wink of Stella)

Freshly Made CAS-ual Fridays

So, I was in the hospital having surgery on Monday.  And after a rough few days after that, I am just about feeling back to how things normally are with fibromyalgia – where the pain and soreness are just constants in the background and something to get used to.  From that perspective, and even though I am really, really taking it very easy this week, I decided I wasn’t going to let a little residual pain and soreness keep me from creating a card.

However, I might have to label the next few weeks of cards as part of my exclusive “Controlled Substance Collection.”  If you know what I mean. 😉  You might be able to discern that they were made while under the influence! LOL.

Actually, I am no longer taking the pain killers, even with some residual pain still left, because I find that the side effects of drugs are much more difficult to live with than the residual pain.  I’m accustomed to pain, from living the life of a fibromyalgic, so if it’s up to me, I’ll take the pain and leave the drug side effects.  Thank you very much.

Total recovery, I am told, is about 2 weeks for the incisions and such, 4-6 weeks for the energy levels.  I really do hope that this will all add a little bit of quality to life, so to speak.  But truthfully, the energy prognosis doesn’t mean much, since ‘normal’ energy levels for me aren’t that spectacular.  But we’ll go with it for a while and see what happens, shall we?

And in that light, I’ll add another disclaimer about today’s card – the pinks don’t look like they clash so much in real life!  Just sayin’.

I got by with a little help from my friends for this card – the CAS-ual Fridays #95 and the Freshly Made Sketches #78 challenges.

I had to switch the sentiment and focal panel locations in order to accommodate my plans for the ‘no stamps’ portion of the challenge.  So I added three rhinestones to imitate the line of the sentiment at the bottom.

Although I used my favorite lace at the top, I dove into my stash of neglected cardstocks for the white panel and the glittered pink areas.  The white was from a pre-embossed pack.

This is also the initial use of my I Heart U die set from Verve, using the pink glittered cardstock and some Smokey Shadow patterned paper.  The ribbon was tied months ago and was sitting around patiently enough, so I threw it on there.  Which, as I now see, was maybe not the wisest choice.  It really does not look that bad in real life.  But let’s just chalk that all up to Percocet, ok?!

Thanks for stopping by today.  BOY, am I over the MOON to be doing something pleasant this week!  And now I’m going to have a nap.  😉

Dynamic Duos #36

Well, the illnesses seem to be clearing out, for the time being (knock on wood).  I thought Little Man was feeling better after his Christmas illness, but something else slammed him on Tuesday, so it’s been a bit of a rough week.  I am just praying and hoping that we are all on the mend now and can get on with life!!  We are behind in lessons and just about everything else, and I never thought I would be happy to be ‘back to normal’ with just the fibromyalgia!  Just having fibromyalgia feels like a dream come true compared to all the crappy illness of the last few months.  I have been COMPLETELY WIPED OUT.

I am here today with my creation for the Dynamic Duos #36 challenge, which is for Real Red and Basic Black with a Valentine Theme Dessert Option.  This is pretty much the only card I’ve made in the last few weeks.  I’ve had a smidgen of energy to do some Copic coloring, but the cards are darn near non-existent right now.  So I am totally patting myself on the back for this one!

I accepted the dessert option and used a few more of my new supplies to create this Valentine card:

I used PTI’s Pure Poppy instead of Real Red.  And I used my new MFT Homespun Hearts stamp set for the sentiment, along with a little ‘xoxo’ from PTI’s Tiny Tags.

I’m still stuck on minimalist mode, because let’s face it – life is a chaotic mess right now, and I have invested every last part of me into the hope that “this too shall pass” and that better times and better health will come our way soon.  😉

Dynamic Duos #34

First, thanks so much for all your sweet birthday wishes.  I had a fun time reading about all your favorite ages and birthdays.  😉

I haven’t made a card since December 13th, which is when I created my card for the previous Dynamic Duos #33 challenge.  But I finally found some time to create, amongst the Holidays, and I am here today with a creation for the Dynamic Duos #34 challenge, the first of 2013 – how exciting!

The colors for this challenge are Melon Mambo and Island Indigo.

I substituted a bit with Pacific Point, since I don’t have any Island Indigo.  As a result, you’ll notice that my project is mostly brown and neutral, with only a few touches of the colors.  And as you can see by my very simple and neutral design, I am easing back into creativity very cautiously – LOL!

I used my new With All My Heart stamp set and Limitless Layers 2.25″ Hearts dies for this card, along with an additional sentiment from the 2010 Love Tags set.  I think these new Valentine stamps are adorable, and I’ve needed some cute stuff for my Valentine’s/Love stamps stash.  I cut the hearts using my new Vagabond machine, which was on double duty as half Christmas and half birthday gift.  (I mean, sheesh! – those things are expensive, even on sale!)

I also used some striped Fine Linen pattern paper, with a little Tea Dye inking around the edges.  I did fussy cut the small pink flowers, to pop them up with dimensional adhesive.

That’s it for me!  I’m hoping to find a little more crafting time as we try to forge a new ‘normal’ as the new year begins, along with lessons again on Monday.

Make sure you stop in to see what the rest of the Dynamos have created for this challenge and to check out the details for the challenge.  I hope you will participate with us!

I have a little bit of news today:  I am an official member of the new Dynamic Duos Design Team for the next 6-month term.  Ack!! ;-D  I’ve been sitting on this news for a few weeks, so I am happy to finally spill the beans!

I was absolutely thrilled to receive that acceptance email from Lesley Croghan, and I am equally thrilled to be alongside the fabulous talent of the other Design Team ladies.  I’m honored, really.  I’ll admit that I often have a bit of an identity crisis about my creativity and my cards.  I still feel like a beginner in so many ways.  Being on a Design Team is a huge thing for me, and I am really looking forward to this new opportunity.  Look for my first post tomorrow morning!

Until then, I have a little something to submit for the Freshly Made Sketches #59 challenge.  I did rotate the sketch for my card.

I ordered a few Stampin’ Up! sets this week, and I was excited to open them all but especially this one from the Elements of Style set.  I knew it would be a fun one to color with my Copics.  Before cutting it into 4 blocks to mat with Scarlet Jewel cardstock, I spritzed it with a little sparkly mist spray.

I also stacked on a few layers, because I guess I was in the mood for a few layers!  I also thought it would be fun to add a big bow out of sheer ribbon and a cute Tiny Tag.

My husband entered the big year-end accounting season at work yesterday by working a 16-hour day to start things off.  I anticipate feeling a bit like a single mom for a few weeks, and possibly here and there for a few months.  Which really just means that I’ll need to try harder to include some time for creativity while he’s busy so that I don’t end up climbing too many walls. 😉  Especially with Winter approaching – LOL.

Thanks for stopping by today!

CAS-ual Fridays – Heart

The theme for CAS-ual Friday #74 is to use a heart on our project.  I also used the Dynamic Duos #24 colors – Soft Suede and Pool Party.  Since I don’t have any Pool Party products, I went with PTI’s Aqua Mist instead.

I was thinking a bit masculine on this one, maybe for my Sweetheart sometime.

I used the Picnic Plaid impression plate and the Heart Prints stamp set, with a little bit of twine and a few rhinestones.

Thanks for stopping by today. 😉
