My Favorite Things 10th Birthday Celebration

I am posting to join in the My Favorite Things 10th Birthday party.  I love my MFT products, especially my Die-namics – so creative and unique!

Today was my last day for free creativity before we get back into our daily routines after a busy month of June.  The party challenge is to use the number 10 in some way.

I used a few MFT stamp sets for this card, stamping 2 of them 10 times each – 1) the little aqua star, and 2) the “enjoy your special day” sentiment in the background.

Thanks for stopping in today.  I hope you all have a great weekend!

Stamps:  Birthday Greetings, On The Line, Party Balloons, Pretty Poppies (MFT); Balloon Celebration (SU)
Ink:  Grout Gray (MFT); Regal Rose (SU); Aqua Mist (PTI); Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Paper/Cardstock:  Aqua Mist DP, Smokey Shadow Cardstock, Rustic White Cardstock (PTI); White (Xpedx)
Embellishments:  Rhinestones (Kaisercraft, Recollections)
Tools:  Party Balloons, Pierced Fishtail Flag STAX (MFT)

A Little Bit of Creativity

I know – I appear here at the most random times, right?

We have had the month of June off from lessons, with other events crowding out the time for now.  I spent the first few days of the spare time organizing and cleaning my little heart out.  PincessA is now finished with elementary lessons, so I’ve also spent a lot of time researching junior high lesson options.

Today, though, nothing would suffice but to (finally) turn on my favorite playlist of beautiful classical music and create a card.  It was nice to do something creative.

I used the Paper Players challenge #301 for a little inspiration boost.

These little cakes from Reverse Confetti are so adorable and fun to work with, and I also love the Taylored Expressions Skinny Mini dies.  I made a set of 4 cards in coordinating colors, while I was at it.

I hope you are all doing well.

Stamps:  Candles ‘n Confetti (Reverse Confetti); Garden Starter (Newton’s Nook)

Ink:  Tuxedo Black (Memento); Hibiscus Burst, Hawaiian Shores, Berry Sorbet, Limeade Ice, Amethyst Allure (Papertrey Ink); Smoky Slate (Stampin’ Up); Copic Markers; Wink of Stella Glitter Pen

Papertrey Ink 9th Anniversary – Day 8

The challenge for Day 8 of the Papertrey Ink 9th Anniversary fun is to allow the Color Pop Fortune Teller to select the colors we will work with for our project.

I began with number 3 (in honor of the kidlins), which landed me on Hibiscus Burst.  My birthday month is January (1), which led me to Orange Zest and Pure Poppy as my 2 additional colors.

I went in search of my Bitty Bouquets stamp set and eventually ended up with this card:
I took the liberty of adding in some Simply Chartreuse for the stems.  (I hope that’s not too much of a derailment from the challenge guidelines!)  I also used the frame image from Fillable Frames #8 and a sentiment from Fillable Frames #4.

Since I was having such fun with this project, I kept working and turned it into a trio:

Thanks for stopping in today to see my creations.  I appreciate it!

Papertrey Ink 9th Anniversary – Day 5

The challenge for Day 5 of the Papertrey Ink Anniversary party is to use nine 1-1/2″ squares to cover a 5-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ square card, altering the squares somehow.

Square cards are not quite my thing, so this was indeed a challenge for me.  My squares aren’t much altered, honestly.  I struggled today with the brain and body fatigue which always come after we finish hosting the Cub Scout Blue & Gold Banquet, so I’m just grateful to have had some creative time!  I suppose that if you count the gems as being an alteration to each square,…. then maybe we’ll go with that!

BDAY-013-01I used the same colors that I used from the Day 1 challenge, and the star die is from the Star Shaker Shapes set.  The sentiment is from the Hooray stamp set, masked off to suit my needs.

Thanks for checking in with me today.  I really appreciate it!

Papertrey Ink 9th Anniversary – Day 3

The challenge for Day 3 of the Papertrey Ink 9th Anniversary party is to spend 5 minutes ‘grabbing’ supplies, and then to create something with all the supplies you’ve grabbed.

The supplies I grabbed:
* Scene-It: Celebration (stamp set & dies)
* True Black Cardstock
* Aqua Mist Striped Designer Paper
* Inks: Aqua Mist, Hibiscus Burst, and Mint Julep; Memento Black Ink
* By The Numbers Impression Plate
* Some silver glittered cardstock and leftover stars still on the counter from a previous crafting session.

I knew exactly which supplies I would grab – I’ve wanted to play with the Scene-It stamps and dies and had this card in my head for weeks!  The impressed numbers on the black panel are barely visible (if at all!) in the above photo, so here is a close-up:

And guess what?  They’re upside down!!  LOL.  I didn’t even notice until I had processed the pics.  Oh well – It’s just been that kind of a day! 😉

I spent 5 minutes grabbing supplies early this morning, and then spent the rest of the day trying to find 5-spare-minute blocks of time to work on this card!  Finally finished it at about 7pm.  **pats self on the back**

Monday tomorrow.  Back to the grind.

And the annual Blue & Gold Banquet is up on Tuesday.

Hopefully I’ll see you all again soon with another creation this week!

Speaking of Coloring Images, Though…

There is something so fun and relaxing about sitting down with my Copic markers and some images to color.  I love to just sit and color!

One thing I have avoided, though, is coloring images of people.  I tend to think, “If I can’t make it look realistic at all, why bother!”  So, I obviously haven’t bothered at all.  Haha!

I did finally take out my MFT Pure Innocence image to practice coloring people features, then I included it on this card:

BDAY-038-01What do you think?  Not too bad, for one of my first attempts?

Well, anyway, it was fun to color.  And I look forward to trying more in the future.

BDAY-038-4in1Thanks for stopping by today. 😉

Stamping Instead of Coloring

Just stopping in this week with a couple of creations I made a few weeks ago.

In my crafting, I tend to rely on die cuts and colored images when making my cards.  But I purchased a MISTI a month or so ago, which has encouraged me to do more stamping, rather than only using sentiments with die cuts and colored images.  I have to say, I absolutely LOVE the MISTI.  It is so easy to stamp in the exact spot where I want it.  I am much more likely to pull out layering stamps now, rather than passing them by because they are too difficult for me to align by eye or with the Stamp-a-ma-jig.

Anyway.  I recently pulled out my PTI Embellished Elegance stamp set to play around with the images in it.  I only used the MISTI for the vines, which didn’t turn out very much aligned, funny enough!  Then I stamped some of the smaller images, trying to cover up the misalignment.  Here is how it all turned out:

BDAY-037-01It was so nice to pull out some of my Lemon Tart cardstock – it’s the only yellow that I really love!  Fun, to experiment a little bit.

Thanks for stopping by today. 😉
